Meadow

Privacy

Last updated October 16, 2026

The short version. Meadow makes apps for your notes, voice, screen and calls. Much of the work happens on your own device: Barky and Meetings transcribe speech on your Mac, Iris never uploads your screen recordings, and AI runs on your device unless you add Plus. What you choose to sync is stored in your Meadow account so your apps and devices can share it. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, we don't use your content to train AI models, and there are no tracking cookies on this site.

Who we are

Meadow is run by [Amit Maraj, operating as Meadow] (“Meadow”, “we”), based in Ontario, Canada. This policy covers the Meadow website, the Meadow account, and the Meadow apps: Burrow, Barky, Firefly, Iris and Meetings, and the apps in early access. If anything here is unclear, write to [hello@usemeadow.app]. That address also reaches the person responsible for privacy at Meadow.

What we collect

Your account

Your email address (to sign you in with a one-time code, no password), the name and colour you pick, and the workspaces you belong to. If you join the early-access list we keep your email, which apps you were interested in, and where you signed up from.

What you make and choose to sync

When you're signed in, these are stored in your account so they show up on your other devices and in the other Meadow apps:

  • Burrow: pages, lists, databases, tasks, comments, and the memories that AI agents you connect save for you. Images and files you attach to a page are stored too, so the page shows them on every device and to the people you share it with.
  • Barky: voice notes: the transcript and text, so a note made on your iPhone shows up on your Mac. The audio recording is uploaded only if you turn on “Sync recordings between devices” (off unless you do); otherwise it stays on the device that made it. Live dictation into other apps is not stored by us.
  • Iris: nothing. Iris never uploads your screen recordings; they stay on your Mac (or in your browser). To share one, you export the video and send the file yourself.
  • Meetings: only the notes and transcripts you choose to send to your account (with “Publish notes” on). Call audio is never uploaded (see below).
  • Firefly: screenshots stay on your Mac. One is uploaded only when you choose “Copy link”, so the link can show it. Links stop working after 30 days by default (you can pick 7 or 90 days, or never, in Settings or for one link), and the uploaded copy is deleted within a couple of days of a link ending or being turned off.

You can use Burrow without an account; then your pages stay on your device and we never see them.

Billing

Which apps you've picked, whether you have Plus, your plan's status and renewal date, any free trial you started before trials ended, and the messages Paddle sends us about your subscription. We never see or store your full card details: Paddle handles them.

Usage we need to run the service

A monthly count of cloud AI requests per app (to apply the Plus allowance) and the number of tokens each used, records of which AI agents you've connected and when they acted, and ordinary server logs (IP address, browser, time, the page asked for) that our hosts keep for security and debugging.

Crash and error reports

When a Meadow app or website crashes or hits an error, it sends us a short report so we can fix it: which app and version, the platform (web, Mac or iPhone), the error message, where in our code it happened, the page's path (never the part after ? or #), and a few technical details such as your operating system version, device model, screen size and language. If you're signed in, the report is linked to your account so we can follow up on a problem you hit. Reports are stored in our own database (Supabase), not sent to an analytics or tracking company. Before a report leaves your device, and again on our server, we remove email addresses, keys and access tokens, and your user name from file paths. Reports never include on purpose what you've made: your pages, notes, recordings, screenshots, transcripts or audio. Only the people who run Meadow can read them.

You can turn this off in Barky (Mac and iPhone), Firefly, Iris for Mac and Meetings: Settings → Send crash reports (on by default). Burrow (on the web and in its Mac and iPhone apps), Iris on the web and this site report errors without a switch for now.

Product analytics

To learn which pages people find and where signing up gets stuck, we count a short, fixed list of events: a page viewed on this site (its path, the website that linked to it as a domain name only, and any utm_ campaign tags in the link), which sign-up button was clicked, an app download clicked, the steps of signing in (started, code sent, done, and whether the account is new), the welcome page seen, a checkout opened (how many apps, monthly or yearly, how many with Plus), a purchase completed (counted by our server when Paddle confirms it), and in the apps: first launch, signed in, unlocked, the plan screen shown and “Choose a Plan” pressed, plus a Burrow workspace opened (once a day).

This uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. We don't store your IP address, email, name, account id or what you type. To count visitors without knowing who they are, our server mixes your IP address and browser name with a random value that changes every day and keeps only the scrambled result; the day's random value is deleted the next day, so nobody, us included, can work out who a visitor was or link one day's visits to another's. When you're signed in, your account is counted once a day the same way. The counts are stored in our own database (Supabase), not sent to an analytics or advertising company, and only the people who run Meadow can see them.

Turning it off: if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted, and our server throws away anything that arrives with those signals. In Barky, Firefly, Iris for Mac and Meetings, turn off Settings → Send usage stats (next to “Send crash reports”).

What stays on your device

  • Speech. Barky and Meetings turn speech into text on your Mac (and Barky on your iPhone). Dictation audio never leaves your device.
  • Meeting audio. Meetings hears your microphone and your Mac's system audio during a call and transcribes it on your Mac. Transcripts and notes are saved in a folder on your Mac. Audio is kept only if you turn on “Keep recordings”, and then only on your Mac.
  • AI by default. Without Plus, AI features run on your device (for example Apple Intelligence). Nothing is sent to an AI provider by us.
  • Screen recordings. Iris keeps every recording, edit and export on your Mac (or in the browser you made it in). We never receive them.
  • Screenshots and settings. Firefly's capture history, and every app's settings, are stored on your Mac.

Some apps let you plug in your own key for an AI service (for example Claude or Gemini in Barky and Meetings) or keep files in your own iCloud Drive. When you do, the app sends text straight to that service under your own account with them, and their privacy policy applies. We don't receive it.

How we use it

  • To run the apps you use: sign you in, sync your work, let people you invite see what you share, and keep share links working.
  • To answer AI requests when you have Plus, and to count them against your allowance.
  • To bill you (through Paddle) and unlock the apps you've paid for.
  • To send email you need: sign-in codes, and messages about your account or a change to these terms. Early-access email only if you signed up for it.
  • To keep Meadow secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To meet legal duties, such as keeping tax and payment records.

We don't sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use your pages, notes, recordings or transcripts to train AI models. Our AI provider doesn't either: Anthropic does not train on data sent through its commercial API.

Who can see your things

Only you, unless you share. Members of a workspace you invite can see and edit what's in it. A share link (a public Burrow page, a Firefly screenshot) can be opened by anyone who has the link until you turn it off or, for a screenshot, until it expires (30 days unless you chose otherwise). AI agents you connect to Burrow can read and write what you allow until you disconnect them in Burrow's settings.

Services that help us run Meadow

These companies process data for us, only to provide their service, under contracts that require them to protect it. Some are in the United States, so your data may be processed there.

Your account data is stored by Supabase in [the United States (Oregon)]. We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Meadow (in which case this policy keeps applying to it).

Payments

Our order process is handled by our online reseller Paddle.com, the merchant of record for all our orders. Paddle collects your payment details, charges you, handles sales tax and VAT, and sends receipts. Paddle's own privacy notice (paddle.com/legal/privacy) covers what it collects. Paddle tells us which plan you bought and its status, never your card number.

Cookies and local storage

This site has no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies (the product analytics above use none). It remembers your light or dark choice in your browser's local storage. The apps keep your sign-in session and an offline copy of your work on your device so they open fast and work without a connection. Paddle's checkout sets its own cookies when you pay.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and what you've synced: while your account is open. Things you delete go to the trash and are removed for good when you empty it.
  • When you delete your account (Burrow → Settings → Account, or the link in any Meadow app's account settings): deleted right away. Workspaces you own alone go with it, along with their files; a shared workspace you own goes to the member you choose, or is deleted if you say so. Pages you wrote in other people's workspaces stay there without your name; your voice notes, recordings, screenshots and meetings there are deleted. A paid plan is cancelled at the same moment. Backups roll off within 30 days.
  • Billing and tax records: as long as the law requires (usually up to 7 years). After you delete your account we keep only what that needs (amounts, dates, which plan), not linked to you. Paddle keeps its own records.
  • Server logs: a few weeks. Early-access list: until you ask us to remove you, or launch.
  • Crash and error reports: deleted 90 days after that error was last seen.
  • Product analytics: individual events are deleted after 90 days, daily totals after 13 months, and each day's random value the day after.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Get a copy of your data, all of it at once: Burrow → Settings → Account → Export my data gives you one ZIP with your pages (Markdown, databases also as CSV), everything as JSON, and your files. Burrow also exports any single page or database.
  • Correct it (your name and email are in settings) or delete it, including your whole account, yourself, from Settings → Account.
  • Take it elsewhere in a common format, and object to or ask us to limit how we use it.
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on it (for example early-access email), at any time.

Write to [hello@usemeadow.app] from the email on your account. We answer within 30 days, and may need to confirm it's you first. There's no charge.

Canada

We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Europe and the UK

We use your data to provide the service you signed up for (contract), to keep it secure and improve it (our legitimate interests), with your consent (early-access email), and to meet legal duties. Data leaving the EEA or UK is protected by an adequacy decision (Canada) or standard contractual clauses. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

California and other US states

You have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We don't sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it, and we don't use sensitive information to infer things about you.

Children

Meadow isn't for children. You must be at least 13 to use it, or 16 in the European Economic Area and the UK (or the age your country sets for agreeing to data processing, if higher). If you think a child has given us personal information, tell us and we'll delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Access to your data in the database is limited by rules that check who you are on every request, and only the people who need to run Meadow can reach production systems. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts your information at real risk, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email you or show a notice in the apps before it takes effect. The date at the top says when it last changed.
