LaunchingEvening, by the quiet water

A quiet place for plain text.

Leaf is a fast, calm text editor for the Mac. Code, configs, notes and enormous logs open at once with the right colours, and your files stay exactly as you left them.

For macOS 14 or later. Your documents are on the web too.

Quick Open · ⌘P

A few letters, and you're there.

Open a folder and it sits quietly beside your text. Press ⌘P, type a few letters of any file and press Return. Leaf picks the language from the extension, the name, the first line or the content. Click the language in the status bar to change it.

# Garden plan Move the tomatoes to the raised bed on **Saturday**. - Stakes for six plants- Two bags of compost

An example folder. Press ⌘P (or Ctrl+P) here to bring Quick Open back.

Big files

A 50 MB log, no beachball.

Leaf only lays out what you can see, so even a huge log opens straight away. Past 1 MB of text it turns highlighting off to stay quick, and the status bar tells you so.

Your file stays your file

Nothing changes unless you change it.

Leaf keeps the encoding, the byte order mark and the line endings it found. Changing any of them is a deliberate choice in the Format menu or the status bar.

  • Tabs or spaces are detected per file.
  • Autosave, Versions and Open Recent work the Mac way.

Markdown, previewed

Light highlighting as you type and a preview beside the text with ⇧⌘P.

JSON, tidied

Pretty-print keeps key order. Validate points at the exact line and column.

PDFs and pictures

Open a PDF or an image for a quick look: thumbnails, search and zoom for PDFs.

How it connects

One account. One place it all lands.

Turn on Sync to Burrow for a folder and its files are kept in your account: searchable in Burrow, and readable and editable on the web at leaf.usemeadow.app.

Pricing

One subscription, the apps you pick.

Leaf isn't on sale yet. When it opens, it joins the same basket. Pick the Meadow apps you want: $2 a month for one, $4 for two, $5 for three.

When can I get it?

Leaf is launching. Join early access and we'll let you know when it opens.
